Well here's the deal....for years I've dreamed of visiting and experiencing that country far away called Ireland. Oh you have no idea!!! Continuing over the years, movies such as Brigadoon, The Quiet Man, P.S. I love You, Leap Year and many others....would continue to add to the lure of "will I ever place my feet on that soil?". It wasn't only the movies...it was the land that was filled with lush grass and not just grass but GREEN GREEN grass! It was the people that I wanted to get to know and get into their culture. I just couldn't wait....
So one year ago my mom and I took the leap and decided that 2011 was it. WOW! I couldn't believe we were really going to plan this trip and make my dreams become a reality. Since it was a for sure thing, I gave my bosses notice a YEAR in advance. Nothing was gonna stop me now! Of course mom was making her arrangements, but with her tenure she didn't have to give such a big notice.
We had started searching for the best deals online and getting signed up for email blasts from travel websites and the like. I had purchased the Rick Steve's 2011 Travel Guide for Ireland. Well I got started reading and then put it off. Then mom took it over and began just absorbing all of his information like a sponge, categorizing and tabbing with flags. Oh I just love my mom!
In the midst of our on and off planning....Our family was faced with a few things that families have to go through now and again. Mom and I prayed about it but continued to plan, knowing that surely God would make a way if this was to be. My Grandmother did pass away June 2011 just before our departure in August...but we were so fortunate to have been with her and say our goodbyes. She was truly a great woman and will be missed.
See wasn't she a beautiful lady??? I'm sorry for the sidebar, but well that's just me I'm a gal about family and we were close. I'll end this post thinking of my Grandma....LOVE YOU!
Stay tuned I promise to stay on track next time.
