Getting Green with Envy....

Oh yeah that fated day had finally approached! It was Friday, August 19th...I had been frantically prepping for my disappearance from work for 2 weeks and mom was on her way to Dallas. Our plan was to make any rearrangements to our packing and go over checklists for fear of leaving something behind. Mom arrived and we went to dinner at Pappadeux's. After dinner we made it back to my humble abode to do our rearranging and get settled in for the night.

OK...so who is really gonna sleep all that great, when the trip of their dreams begins the following morning????

All that excitement just bubbled up and my eyes shot open at the early hour of 4am. I did my best to sneak in the other room and not wake mom. However, by 5am mom was joining me in the Early Rise Club. The hustle and bustle of the morning began with the getting around process. We were two busy little bees swarming around my apartment. Then coffee, spiced muffins, pack pack pack and we were sitting comfy on the couch awaiting our chauffeur, Kim. Soo sweet of her to deliver us to the airport for the trip. As she put it, I'll be the first to see them off and the first to hear their stories when they arrive. HAHA, she was sooo right!  She appeared at 7:15am....it was go time! Luggage loaded, rear in seat, smiles on faces and we were off to begin the start of our track to the wonderful Emerald Isle!

Our security process went smoothly and off to our gate with excitement. Two hours later would begin a bit of worry, as news from Chicago reached that thunderstorms were delaying our flight. PANIC!!! Over the loud speaker "passengers intending to fly on flight #2336, your flight has been cancelled." Holy cow...you'd know mom would have disappeared to the ladies room and I was caught hostage with our carry-ons!

Well as with any story I should know that the Almighty God would be looking after us. Lines formed in the angst, would we get a flight out to Chicago??? Mom reappeared and off I went to stand in line with the hoard. After 10-15 minutes another announcement "If you would like to make your way toward Gate A38 we'll get you booked." Off mom and I went to this new appointed gate. Once waiting for a bit I got this feeling...thinking to myself "God is that you?" The still quiet voice says, "Why don't you go check-in at that other gate with an attendant?" Oh yeah when your mind is quiet and God talks..you LISTEN!!!  So off I went to check, and sure enough the lady was able to get us rebooked on the next flight out to Chicago. We went from a supposed flight out of DFW at 10:10am to a flight at 1:20pm. We felt so blessed because thunderstorms had been reeking havoc in Chicago and we didn't want to be flying then.

Remember...pray for help and he provides!

We landed in Chicago around 4pm and headed for food...we were starving! Wolfgang Puck Express suited our needs with a yummy Chanois Chicken Salad, full of cabbage, grilled chicken and wanton strips.

Now to wait for boarding and head to IRELAND...so excited!!! While waiting for our separate groups to be called mom in Group 1 and I in Group 2...a couple began talking to us. She had surprised her husband with a trip and moments before just revealed the location was Ireland (talk about a shocker). Behind them were a group of Irishmen heading home from a fly fishing trip in Alaska. What a way to start out before even hopping on the plane.

Our American Airlines 767 seated 3 columns of seats, 2 - isle - 3 - isle 2. Mom and I got ourselves situated in our 28A & B seats then prepared for the flight we had long been waiting for. While seated and the plane began to back out, we decided to snap a few shots!

Mom & I

Yep that's us....can you just feel the excitement??? Maybe not but we could.

So the Lord blessed us with a great takeoff and we began giggling in awe that WOW, we were really and truly headed to Ireland! Both of us soo tired from a long day sitting in the airport and our eyes still managed to stay open. Let's just say it was quite a night of wrestling with pillows, blankets and just trying to stay comfy. It's hard to sleep just barely reclined in those seats.

However we were on our way and nothing was stopping us now!!!
